My dad is at the end stages of Alzheimer's. He has had a couple of stays in rehab hospitals with undesirable conditions where he has been over medicated and went 24 hours without being changed lying in his own urine, push to a room at the end of the hall where it was like out of sight out of mind. It is my mom's intention to keep him home and comfortable for as long as possible getting the care that he needs by my nephew Michael who is a CNA. When he has been in nursing homes in the past he becomes more disoriented and tends to hallucinate. At this point he has no use of his legs and is unable to do any activities of daily living on his own. My mom has been trying for over a year now and even hired an attorney to help her get my dad accepted into the waiver program so that she can get medical & financial assistance. So far he has been approved for the medical part, but they want you to spend down all of your money before they want to approve you for any financial help. I put in a hefty goal, but I know how expensive things are when you are trying to get medical care and supplies and truly any amount would help. Thank you!
