James' Three Peaks 'Thank You Hike'

Our chosen charities are Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity and South Manchester Down's Syndrome Support Group and we intend to split anything raised equally.

We have chosen these two charities to allow them to continue giving the support we have experienced with James, to help others in their hour of need. 

Four friends, Ross, James, Fordy and myself will be embarking on the 3 peaks challenge on the 16th September with the aim to complete all three peaks within 24 hours.

A Walk with James

I sit here writing, my boy on my knee
Thinking of what the future might be
Emotions of loss, fear, sorrow and confusion
How will I wake from this awful illusion?
I look again, my son so peaceful and restful
He tells me dig deep, big strong and be mindful
"I may be small and fragile but look what I've done Dad
Take courage be proud and look what I've gone through"
He's tough my boy, brave and courageous
Take solace in his advice and look to the future
My boy will be strong and a good life he will lead
To all those who helped in his hour of need
The doctors and nurses, porters and staff
Who saved my dear boy, I can't thank you enough.
With this notion four friends you see
Pals for life, very dear to me
Embark on a challenge to say thanks to you
Three peaks we shall climb, a challenge you say
But not even close to the fight my boy has day after day
Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon
We'll see my boy what the future has to beholden
Courage, bravery, strength and determination
We'll take these with us my boy
For it is for you that this deed has been chosen
A lesson in life you have shown
Will guide us the way into the great unknown.
