On Saturday, May 11th, Josh suffered a devastating injury while playing basketball with family members. After spending the night in the emergency room, we discovered the worst news, that Josh had a completely ruptured Achilles tendon. An orthopedic surgeon confirmed the injury diagnosis on Monday, May 13th, and outlined two courses of treatment. Surgery was recommended, but not an option due to the upfront cost of $10,000. The best alternative is a 16-week rehabilitation protocol that has yielded the same success as surgery, and offers a pay-as-you-go option.
For those unfamiliar with this type of injury, if it does not heal properly, the growth of scar tissue can limit range of motion that controls walking and running. Even with the best medical treatment, it’s typically a career-ender for professional sports athletes.
This rehabilitation program is the best chance Josh has to ensure he will not be permanently disabled. The surgeon ordered Josh to begin the program immediately to ensure a lifetime with full range of motion, and instructed Josh not to put weight on the injured leg for a minimum of 4 weeks.
We need your help. Josh and his wife have five children between them and are on a very limited income, with no health insurance. We are asking for financial assistance to cover the minimum twice-weekly rehabilitation appointments and to assist with expenses until Josh is recovered enough to work his full-time job again.
