Clint’s New Heart Support Fund

Donation protected
I met my friend Clint about fifteen years ago when he tripped down a flight of stairs, and I, being a kind and caring person, laughed so hard I nearly ruptured a lung. Naturally we bonded and he’s been my best friend for half my life now. He’s a hilarious, strong, and highly intelligent guy who is passionate about life, cares deeply for others, and has been there for me (and everyone else he knows) no matter how much it might have inconvenienced him. He also happens to make a mean spaghetti carbonara and wears bow ties like a boss. I know that reads a bit like something you’d find on eHarmony, but unfortunately for any ladies who might be reading, he’s married to an insanely awesome woman, so you’re plumb out of luck.

As awesome as Clint is, he has one fault that I find hard to forgive. He’s got a bad heart, and it’s on its last legs. It’s already died on him a couple of times, but Clint being Clint, he didn’t let something so trivial get in his way. He just threw a defibrillator in his chest and kept on trucking. Unfortunately, though, even having a bolt from Zeus boxed up in his chest isn’t going to be enough anymore. He’s on the transplant list for a new heart, and that’s the only option he has left.

He’s been on the list for a while now, and while he is getting closer to the top, he’s having an increasingly difficult time working and doing things around the house. He’s gone from running a small business virtually on his own (translation: many many hours a week), to working a three quarter time job, to working a couple of flexible part-time jobs, to now working on days when his heart forgets that it’s sick for an hour or two. His wife, Tess, who I swear is somehow descended from the Amazons (think Wonder Woman here, not a rainforest tribe), does an incredible job teaching elementary school. Anyone that can go into a room full of thirty ten-year-olds and manage to come out seven hours later not only still sane, but having managed to keep all the kids alive and then send them home with fuller heads deserves a billion dollars. Unfortunately the education budget doesn’t stretch quite that far, and that’s where you come in.

Clint and Tess are doing everything they possibly can to make ends meet, but with the loss of income, increase in medical bills, and an enormous operation on the horizon with huge costs not only in money, but time and energy as well (not to mention the stress of potentially losing Clint should anything go wrong), things have gotten a bit tight for them, in the same way things get a bit tight for a rabbit who just became close with a boa constrictor. They could really use your help. Even if the $20,000 goal isn’t met, they will appreciate every single dollar they receive, and every penny donated will go directly to them. Thank you so much!
