This Go-Fund-Me page was difficult for me to setup and share, but my position has become such that I must reach out for help. This does not come easy for me, but I believe that it will ultimately help me live the life I seek to live. What follows is a little bit about my position and why my family, friends and I have setup this page.
As some of you may or may not know, I have been dealing with a severe mental illness for about 4 years now. I believe that in actuality I have been dealing with some form of it my whole life, but I have only just come to terms with it a few years ago. I have been in and out of the hospital, seen multiple therapists, psychiatrists and tried multiple treatment groups, but unfortunately the system has continued to fail me.
Mental illness has derailed my ability to exist and thrive. Over the course of the past four years, I have had to drop out of school on multiple occasions, quit numerous jobs, and recluse myself from my passions such as dance, all because I have been unable to maintain some semblance of stability in my life. All of this is a direct result of trauma and related mental health issues that I have endured.
I have tried numerous outlets and resources in my area, but nothing has stuck or given me the help I so badly desire and need. However, I have finally found a treatment centre in Vancouver that I believe is what I need! Although it is a 6-10 month waitlist (which I am currently enrolled), and is a 26 week program, it is such a very small amount of time compared to the life that I want to be able to have and exist in. Unfortunately, the program costs approximately $9000, not including the weekly transportation/ferry rides (approximately 4000$ for 26 weeks) and medications (approximately $150/month). Due to my inability to work consistently I cannot afford this on my own, so I am asking for help, any help at all! I sincerely thank anyone who is able to help or share this page, I am optimistic that I can finally receive the help that I need.
