Lydia's medical expenses

Lydia experienced frequent and increasing numbness, pain, and muscle spasms that could not be ignored any longer.   She decided to go to the doctor and on Monday 7/24 after an urgent MRI Lydia discovered she had a large herniated disc in her low back between the L5-S1 vertebrae.  She had surgery July 28th to remove the part of the disk that protruded into her spinal column and blocked nerves in the right leg.

This injury and surgery also affects Lydia's finances both with her co pays and lost wages from not teaching or performing while in recovery.   Lydia is a full time employee at Poudre School District and has health insurance, but the co-pays add up and the lost wages from her side work only make things worse.  Lydia's occupation and passion is to enrich other people's lives and she is always always willing to help others in need.   Lets help her with her expenses so she can get back to it to being Lydia!

Now the GOOD NEWS: the recovery from surgery should be pretty quick. 10 days til she can return to "light duty". She is unsure if she can play violin for the 1st couple weeks of recovery. 4-8 weeks is the estimate to "full" recovery.

You are probably wondering how this happened. I don't have a perfect answer to that but what I do know is I began having low back pain in May. I thought I was doing enough to recover by using chiropractic care and easing up intensity of my activities. As you may know I'm very active and this could have been compounded by other activities such as sports, lifting music equipment, running, or even yoga. My symptoms worsened exponentially last weekend and had to be addressed head on.

I am optimistic about a smooth and complete recovery. I imagine there will be good days and bad days. Luckily I have support from my family, significant other, my band mates and teammates. I feel blessed to have community support."
