Infant Leah Clings to Life

Leah was born prematurely and has been clinging to life ever since. Diagnosed with Downs Syndrome, cardiac and lung abnormalities, and failure to thrive, she is currently fighting for her life in a New York City hospital with her mother by her side night and day.

Her loving father, Erick, was deported back to Guatemala when Suzie, his wife, was eight months pregnant. He has never seen his newborn twins (Leah has a twin brother). Understand that Erick had his own construction business, paid taxes, maintained health insurance for his family, and had no criminal record.

He was also the sole breadwinner for the family. Now Suzie is trying to pay medical expenses, child care, food, travel, and other living expenses without her husband’s income. To make matters worse, Erick’s health insurance was terminated when he was deported. (Erick and Suzie have become dear friends of ours over the years. The friendship began when Erick put the second floor on our house!)

Your donation would help to make it possible for this family to continue vital medical treatment for Leah, without which she could not survive.  We would be grateful for any amount you could give.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
