Hello, I am an athlete selected to represent Canada at the 2013 Pan-American track and field championships in Medellin, Columbia this August. My main event is the triple jump, which I will be attending the meet for.
The trip to columbia is partially self-funded, and while attending Dalhousie University as a full time student, money for sport is pretty tight. I am an employee of Empire Theatres and am working hard to save the money, but with the deadline for payment quickly approaching I will need some help.
This will be my first national team opportunity and hopefully not the last. I am currently ranked 1st in Canada for triple jump and finished the 2012-2013 indoor season also tied for first place. I currently hold Nova Scotias junior indoor and outdoor provincial record and am hoping and expecting to smash both of those records in the near future.
I competed within the CIS this past winter as a rookie and placed 5th in the triple jump and competed in the 60m hurdles. That same year I competed in the AUS where I won bronze in long jump, silver in the triple jump, and gold in the 60m hurdles, also breaking the Dalhousie record with a time of 8.55 seconds. I was named AUS rookie of the year, nominated for CIS rookie of the year, and won Dalhousie all-around male rookie of the year.
In August later this summer I will compete at the 2013 Canada Games which are being held in Sherbrooke, Quebec. I am hoping to medal in / win the triple jump. This meet will prepare me well for the intense competition I will face in columbia.
ANY donations will help me so much in pursuing my goal and dream of competing for team Canada. I have already overcome the challenge of making team Canada, and the only thing standing in my way is the financial barrier! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
