Help save Lucy

My wife and I have been animal lovers our entire lives. We currently have two cats, Luna and Lucy, and a dog, Quin. Lucy recently became very ill and wouldn't eat. At first we thought it was a mild infection, so we proceeded with antibiotics and syringe-feeding every hour. After a week without any progress, we took her to the pet ER and she was diagnosed with a severe bowel obstruction. The surgery and associated costs to help her are around $3,500.
We cannot afford this and were denied for financing at the pet hospital. We're taking steps to keep her hydrated and comfortable with subcutaneous fluid injections and pain medication, but the only thing that will certainly cure her is this surgery.
Lucy has been an amazing friend to us over the 4 years we've had her. While she may be skittish around new people, she is very sweet with us and knows when we need a little extra love. We got her around the time my wife's mother passed away. She was a great comfort to us both during that time, and continues to help us get through tough situations, as do all of our pets.
We ask for your help knowing that most of you have or had a special pet in your life that you would do anything for. If we had the money to spend, I would gladly, but it simply isn't possible. Instead we've turned to the internet in the hopes that we can raise enough money here for her.
If we reach our goal, we will immediately schedule her surgery. I will make sure to keep all interested backers up-to-date on her progress at that time. If we end up raising more money than is needed, or the estimate of her surgery is high than it actually comes out to, we will donated any and all extra money collected here to animal and pet related charities. Again, that process will be relayed to you all to make sure you are as involved as possible.
