Caitlin & Joy want to have a baby!

Donation protected
Hello friends and family. We (Caitlin, Joy, and our little cat Quimby) want to have a baby! Turns out, it costs a lot of money to find, purchase, and care for enough healthy Filipino sperm to get Caitlin pregnant.

We are so excited to start this crazy adventure and are reaching out to our community (that's you!) to help us get what we need to grow our family.

We hope the opportunity to be part of making a little Collings-Domingo baby is exciting to you, and that you are able to give $35, $100, or the amount you think is appropriate for bringing our babe into the world.

Questions and Answers:

Q. Does donating $ to this fund make me partial parent/decision-maker for potential future kiddo?
A. Nope. But you can babysit anytime you want and impart your child-rearing values at that time.

Q. Does this mean Caitlin & Joy are having a baby right away!?
A. Not really. We need to raise and save some $ before we even start the several month process (and that's the best case fertility scenario) that is greatly slowed down when our sperm has to travel through the US Postal Service. Please don't call us every day to ask us how it's going. Those questions will especially be hard if we are having trouble.

Q. Where did you get the $9,000 goal?
A. A vile of sperm costs $400-$800, plus there are other fees associated w/ storing, shipping, getting information on donors, etc. We took the average amount of $ it costs to try to get pregnant for 1 cycle ($1,500) and multiplied it by 6 months.

Q. Do gay people have the right to have children?
A. I can't believe you would even ask that question.

Q. Do gay people make good parents?
A. Well, we won't speak for thousands of people all over the world. Surely there are a few crappy gay parents out there joining the ranks of the crappy straight parents. BUT, we can tell you that WE will be pretty darn awesome at it.

Q. Should I be concerned about the financial stability of a future child whose parents are doing a fundraising campaign to even have a baby?
A. No need to worry. While we are not rolling in the dough from working in produce and nonprofits, we are building up a good nest egg and support system for our family. That is exactly why we are being resourceful for sperm and fertility costs (as to not take away funds from the stability and structure we are building).

Q. What happens to the rest of the fund if Caitlin gets preggers with the first vial of sperm?
A. In the unlikely circumstance that we won't need all the donated $ for sperm-related costs, the funds will go toward birthing costs. In the VERY unlikely situation that there is $ remaining after pregnancy and birthing, it will go to the legal documentation costs of ensuring our family has the necessary legal rights and protections.

Q. Could my gift really be used to create new life?

A. Yes! Pretty amazing huh? Thanks for considering helping us grow the love and size of our happy little family.

Thank you and feel free to pass along!
