Rebuild St. Joseph Shrine and Retreat

Tax deductible
The photo below shows that the Crucifixion cross has burned and Jesus' hands are no longer nailed to the cross.
The Yarnell Hill Fire on 6-30-13 took the lives of 19 Firefighters, 100+ homes and so much more.
The Shrine of St. Joseph of the Mountains lost part of the Cross of the Crucifixion, some handrails of the Way of the Cross, the Gift Shop, and several of the House of Joseph Retreat buildings including the commercial kitchen.

The Shrine of St. Joseph has been an integral part of the community of Yarnell for over 73 years. It was built during the Great Depression by the Catholic Action League of Arizona, which consisted of members of various Catholic parishes in Phoenix.

The Shrine was built to provide an environment where all people could come for peace, meditation, refreshment and renewal of spirit and to re-establish family values. It was dedicated to the veterans of World War I and World War II.

The Shrine sits on a hillside covered with boulders and oak trees. It is open every day from dawn to dusk, weather permitting. Visitors, by stopping at the 14 points, can focus on the events that depict Jesus' last days, culminating in His crucifixion and resurrection.

The Shrine of St. Joseph has no Catholic order or parish to care for it like other shrines around the world. The Shrine depends entirely on donations and there is no paid staff. Volunteers operate with the faith that somehow God will provide.

The House of Joseph Retreat was one of the orphanages of Father Wasson. More than 15,000 children called Wasson Father. The House of Joseph Retreat Center now is an interfaith facility dedicated to providing a tranquil setting conducive to the needs and wishes of groups of people on retreat. You can visit the retreat at this website.

Please help us raise the money needed to REBUILD the buildings lost to the Yarnell Hill Fire! This money will also make the necessary repairs to the other damages resulting as well from the fires.

All donations to the Shrine of St. Joseph, a 501-C-3 organization are tax deductible. 100 percent of all donations go to the maintenance and upkeep of the Shrine. We need your support.
