****SHORT TERM GOAL!!**** Maxwell just went into surgery to have his vein repaired and to be taken off the ECMO machine. The goal is to reach above $3,500.00 by the time I have the post-op update. Please help our sweet Maxwell to move closer to coming home.
Maxwell Theron Swainston came into this world in the early hours of the morning on the 10th of July, 2013. It was clear immediately to the Doctors that Max would not survive and they instructed his parents to quickly come say goodbye to him. After this heart wrenching experience his parents waited for the end. To the astonishment of his Medical team Max fought and beat out incredible odds to survive. Miracle Max, as we have come to call him suffers from a severe case of congenital diaphragmatic hernia or CDH. Newborns with CDH often have severe respiratory distress which can be life-threatening unless treated appropriately. As a result, Miracle Max was transported by life flight to Primary Children's Medical Center and hooked up to an ECMO machine in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Max will be in the NICU for an extended period of time as he stabilizes and prepares for the surgery he will have that will save his life. I am proud to call myself this sweet boy's Uncle and I have put this page together to help pay for the intensive care that is keeping our Miracle Max alive and the surgery that will repair his sweet little frame. We love our Miracle Max and we are so thankful to The Lord for blessing our lives with his arrival. We pray now that with the help of others we can pay his medical expenses and bring him home from the NICU.
