Javohn's brain surgery

Donation protected
Javonh Garbutt is an eternally happy and energetic 8 year old. He and his twin sister Jazzlyne are the youngest of 6 children in their close-knit family. When Javohn started feeling sick with a headache and low energy his parents, Thomas and Doret, drove him from their home in Southern Belize to the hospital in Belize City. On June 25, Javohn was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Thomas and Doret were shocked, but with the help of family friends they are doing everything possible to get Javohn the medical treatment he needs. They traveled to Denver, CO, where the Children's Hospital Colorado has agreed to treat Javohn at a reduced cost. Even so, the medical bill for his initial surgery is estimated to be over $150k, and the Garbutts do not have medical insurance to cover this cost. The hospital is requiring $153,385 payment upfront, and Javohn has an appointment to see the Dr on Monday July 8, so we're trying to raise $153k as quickly as possible.

For the remaining $27k we are targeting September 1, to cover other related expenses. Thomas (aka "Scully") is a fishing guide and Doret is an elementary school teacher. They are both taking time off of work to care for Javohn and the rest of their family. This time-off and their travel expenses will add to the financial impact of Javohn's treatment.

The Garbutts are an extraordinary family, with an uncommon caring spirit. They contribute so much to their community and make visitors feel like they are part of the family. I hope we can rally around them now, in their moment of need.

Please keep Javohn and the Garbutt’s in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this and thank you in advance for any other support you can offer.
