A chance to walk again

My name is Steven Minerva and I have been afflicted with a neurological illness for the last 24 years. My mobility is very limited, I have been on a steady decline since the age of 23 and today I find basic necessities such as getting down the hall or getting up and down the stairs becoming impossible and dangerous due to my lack of mobility and muscle control. Every aspect of my life has been affected negatively and I fear that if I don’t reverse or cure this insidious disease I will become bed ridden and an invalid. Just trying to walk a short distance without the aid of an individual or a wall to lean on has become more and more difficult and some days almost impossible.

        Little by little I have been losing pieces of my life from my business and the ability to support my family in my chosen career to my independence. Some of the missing pieces are things like the ability to drive a car to walking from my bed without assistance to attending a school function for my son. My days are now spent locked in my home looking out the window dreaming of walking down the street with my family or simply going to the store on a whim without any planning.

         At this time there is an opportunity for me to receive a new treatment that has shown great promise. This treatment involves removing stem cells from my bone marrow and injecting these stem cells back into my body. For me to receive these treatments costs at least $10,000 per visit plus additional expenses for vitamin supplements and continuing therapy.
