New Heart for Sandy

On June 28, 2013 I was placed on the Heart Transplant List. This fund is to help us raise money for medical deductibles and un-covered dental work and dentures needed in preparation of the transplant.

I have had many medical issues during my lifetime. In 1983 I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and underwent high dose radiation directly to my chest. In 2002 Cancer returned in the form of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This time I underwent chemotherapy and because of my previous cancer it was decided I would be a good candidate for a stem-cell transplant. I had my stem cell transplant in February 2002. In 2009 it was discovered that my heart had been severely damaged due to the high dose radiation and weakened further due to the stem cell transplant. In September of 2009 I underwent quadruple by-pass surgery. Since than I have been hospitalized several times for heart failure, and my heart continues to weaken.

This has been a very long struggle for me and my husband of 21 years, Dave. We are very blessed to have our faith and many good friends and family. We are hopeful that I will get a new heart soon and I can get back to my old self and we can continue growing old together.
