Giving Mali a Lift!

Donation protected
HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY MALACHI!!!! Malachi turns 5 years old today and for anyone who wants to help wish him a happy birthday, THIS is your opportunity. Today is a day we never expected to celebrate. He has crossed so many hurdles, come face to face with death on far too many occasions and has outlived his "24 hours to survive". He is growing and learning and adapting.

Malachi is in need of a lift....a stairlift! We live in a two story home and were unable to put an addition on the back of our home to accommodate his needs, so one of the upstairs bedrooms was turned into a handicapped accessible bathroom. Now he needs to be able to get up and down the stairs without someone carrying him. Specifically, he is now 42 lbs and once he reaches 50 lbs he cannot be lifted by nursing staff or us individually.

We have done research and have found a company that we can purchase a refurbished, installed and warrantied stairlift for $7,500. We applied to a local trust and was awarded $1,000 to use toward it. Any contributions to Mali's fund here will go directly to the stairlift. We are hopeful to have this installed by early fall.

For those not knowing "Mali's Story" in short...he was born with a brain injury and then obtained an traumatic brain injury after birth. We adopted him at 7 months old. Since his adoption, he has had a g tube, j tube, trach, he has consistent seizures, cerebral palsy, cortical visual impairment. Since his adoption, he has stretch our faith, strengthened our family, built our confidence in the human spirit. He has touched more lives in his few short years than many touch in a lifetime. In October of 2011 we brought him home on hospice, funeral arrangments made and roughly 12 to 24 hours to survive. Since that time, Malachi has not only survived but thrived. With each set back, life flight, or PICU stay he comes home developmentally further ahead than he was when admitted. This is NOT something that can be medically explained. This is God, this is divine intervention, this is mind boggling, this is our life...a life we said yes too...a life that is not easy, but worth every step!

Thank you for considering the opportunity to give Mali a "step-up". Every donation counts no matte how big or small. Thank you!
