PLEASE HELP HAZEL

Donation protected
Please help us find a diagnosis and cure for Hazel. She is a nine year old pit bull terrier, who has been suffering for several weeks. Hazel has always been an extremely affectionate, loving, intelligent, and sweet dog. Recently, her behavior and personality has changed drastically. She's become very lethargic and withdrawn. She restlessly paces in circles to her left-side for hours, while acting disoriented, confused and scared. She cries on and off throughout the day and night. She also has great difficulty sleeping at night. She no longer responds to her name or her nickname (Mama), as well as being non-responsive to commands and communication. She bumps into walls and loses her balance. She seems anxious and lost even while being in a well known environment like her home. At times she doesn't recognize me or other familiar faces. Her cognition has declined rapidly. She has always been a dog who loves to cuddle and kiss, however she no longer partakes in either. She has very engaging eyes that are now absent. I took her to Rutherford Animal Hospital after the onset of her symptoms. Initially the vet thought she was suffering from depression and anxiety. After observing her continually pacing to the left-side, she concluded that she may have a brain tumor known as Meningioma. Blood-work was taken that day and the results showed that all of her vital organs were functioning properly. She began her on a regimen of steroids to prevent any inflammation in the brain that could be occurring. After starting the steroids she showed some minor improvements in terms of being more awake and alert, however all of the other symptoms continued and failed to subside. The next weekend I brought her back to the hospital for X-rays of her chest. The X-rays showed no signs of tumors. Her heart and lungs were very healthy. This led the vet to believe that her condition was neurologically based. I've been working on reinforcing her name and reteaching her learned behaviors that have been lost. I try to keep her stimulated and active by talking to her and playing or taking her for walks to get exercise, but some days she won't even open her eyes. I'm in the process of changing her diet and starting her on herbal medications that will help enhance cognition. My fingers are crossed that these changes will help her. The next step is to take her to neurologist for an evaluation and an MRI of her brain. The cost of this test and exam will be about $3,000. I need your help in getting my dog help. I cannot bare to see her in this condition any longer. My heart breaks for her. At times I can comfort her and calm her down, however there are moments when she is inconsolable. This dog means the world to me. I've had her since I was in college and she was only 3 months old. She's been with me ever since then. If you've ever met her you know that she is extremely special...she's one of a kind. She deserves to be happy and healthy. If you could give even the smallest donation, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you so much!!
