Hello all!
My name is Tom Macias and I am 29 years old. My wife Taylor is brilliant and loving and I am the father of 2 handsome boys, Vincent and Tidus.

They mean everything to me! Things have been a bit crazy lately but just recently I was confronted with a mountain placed before my life.

What Happened?
On February 2nd I was in a high speed car accident after blacking out on the highway.

After a visit to the hospital, many x-rays and a CT scan, the doctors decided I was bruised from the wreck but nothing serious. However, inadvertently they found a colloid cyst in my brain. You can read more about the colloid cyst HERE.

The Diagnosis?
I met with my neurosurgeon, Dr. Brent Morgan on February 12th and he informed me that the cyst is very large, 17mm by 14mm. It is the reason for my blackouts, narcoleptic episodes and my short term memory loss. The doctor projected that within 3 to 6 months I will be dead from the pressure building in my brain so we must remove it within the next week. I am no longer allowed to drive, work or be alone in case something happens.

The Plan
I have an MRI scheduled for February 15th and I meet with my doctor right after to set the time for the surgery. Dr. Morgan is going to perform a craniotomy on me. He will shave my head, remove part of my skull and with a microscope, remove the cyst from the very center of my brain. The risk is permeant short term memory loss. The great news is I will be cured for life after the surgery and death won't be on the table anymore.

How can you help?
I do have insurance but the deductible is $3,000 and I have already been out of work for a week and will be out for at least another month or longer depending on my recovery. That will be over 6 weeks of no paychecks. I don't have short term disability so I just don't get paid. My wife works full time but that only covers a portion of our montly expenses, groceries, and diapers. Our savings were spent getting Taylor another car after I totaled our car in the wreck.

This is a terrifing experience for me and I am very nervous to go under and have brain surgery done. On the other hand I don't want to just drop dead one day down the road so surgery is the only option. If you could contribute anything it would be a tremendous help! I will return to work but in the mean time I wont be able to support my family.

Anything you can contribute means the world to me, to my wife and my two boys. My family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts and I pray God bless you for your generosity! I know the Macias family will be forever grateful for your help.
