Shehariah's Promising Future

Shehariah Johnson graduated from Benjamin Banneker High School in Washington, DC in 2010.  She later attended American University (AU) in Washington, DC, and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Spanish.  While attending AU, she spent her first semester of senior year studying abroad in Santiago, Chile.  After graduating, Shehariah continued to pursue her dreams of working with children and modeling.  Her ultimate goal is to continue her education in graduate school to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology. She is known as a sweet, kind, loving, motivated, determined, and dedicated young woman with a promising future.

On Friday, August 14, 2015, she became a victim of domestic violence that nearly took her life.  She was stabbed numerous times.  She was medivacked to an area hospital.  She was told by doctors that she would be paralyzed from her neck down.  Today, one month from this horrendous crime, she has regained partial mobility.  She has been given a scheduled release date of early October 2015, and will continue her rehabilitation in an intense outpatient therapy program.  The home where she will be recovering is a secure and safe environment. However, due to the nature of the injuries that she sustained, modifications to the home are required in order to accommodate her.      

We continue to pray she regains full mobility, and she is determined to fight this battle in high spirits.
