Alrighty then, moment of truth.
Unless some kind of miracle happens I'll be forced to leave my home any day now with my life in a bag and no money.
My partner since four years and the mother of my three year old son is throwing me out on the street, partly for failing to contribute economically. And I moved here from Sweden to start this relation, which means I don't have any support network to lean on. To make matters worse, I don't even have a passport since the border trouble started right after I got here. It's sort of a mess.
I've been writing software in one form or other for over 34 years. I spent the last four years working on a new open source programming language (https://github.com/codr7/forthy2), since I'm pretty much unemployable because of health issues and I couldn't just sit and let my experience be wasted. My hope was that sharing knowledge for free to make other people's lives brighter would generate donations to allow me to bring home enough money. That didn't really work out at all.
The specified amount is what I expect will be needed for a full reboot. I have a smashed vertibrae from a climbing accident which means dealing with permanent chronic pain, without medicine I'm a total wreck. I would also need a real laptop to be able to write code and communicate with the outside world. And food, and a roof over my head. And new shoes, since my boots are leaking water like crazy and falling apart any second now. I've lived a very spartan life the last four years, which means most of my clothes and the few things I own are falling into pieces from constant use.
From my experience sometimes shit happens, and sometimes shit teams up with more shit to really bang you up. I feel pretty banged up at the moment just from being confronted with the fact that the woman I loved and fought so hard to help is capable of doing this to anyone.
Someone suggested that I try this, so here we are.
