Emma’s medical expenses
Donation protected
On January 26th, Emma came home from school saying she didn’t feel well. She was an active 16 year old Junior in high school with a part time job she loved. Emma also picked up babysitting jobs when her schedule allowed. She was in Honors classes and maintained a 3.9 grade point average. She is mom to two dogs, Lydia Rae and Olaf.
After countless visits to her primary care doctor, several blood draws and weeks of waiting, Emma was only getting worse. I noticed that there was a “lump” on Emma’s thyroid. At Emma’s next doctors appointment I pointed out this observation and requested a full thyroid panel. Another week went by. Another office visit. Finally in mid or late February Emma was sent for an ultrasound scan of her thyroid. A nodule was found. Biopsy was ordered and preformed. It came back as cancerous. Emma was then sent for an ultrasound scan of her lymph nodes. The scans came back with 7 suspicious lymph nodes. Those were biopsied.
Emma has had to unenroll from school and take leave from her job. She takes 9 medications daily. Her symptoms are many. She’s missed out on her 16th year of fun with friends. Emma is now consumed with doctors appointments, test results and now surgery.
Finances are tight for us. I work full time but the expenses of the last 7 months has put a tremendous strain on us. Donations will be used to pay for medical bills (some that are currently past due).
We appreciate all the love, kindness and support that has already been shown by family and friends. Any financial help is greatly appreciated and needed.
Emma will be having a 5 hour surgery on August 5th to remove her thyroid and 7 lymph nodes. Thank you in advance for your support.
