Reece Family: California Dreamin'

Sarah has been working hard to build her small business and has secured her first international booking for a conference in the USA! We're all more than a little excited. Travelling across the world with a breast feeding baby will be a lot more achievable if her partner can come for support. Sarah's flights and accommodation are covered but we need to raise funds for partner and baby . 

There are a lot of dreams wrapped up in this opportunity! Sarah and her partner both come from backgrounds of poverty, homelessness, and trauma. They've worked hard to find a tribe, home, and create a family. Sarah's partner has never been overseas and dreams of exploration and adventure. Sarah has been living with chronic illness/chronic pain/psychiatric disability and her primary form of income is disability support. A huge goal for her is financial independence. Her business as a speaker, artist, and consultant is growing and she has many happy clients locally - an international opportunity is a big development and hopefully another step towards self sufficiency. 

These opportunities have partly grown out of a lot of unpaid work. During years of illness and unsuccessful job hunting, Sarah has honed her skills and created a huge range of free resources for vulnerable people. She spent thousands of hours running face to face and online support groups for people with dissociation, multiplicity, voices and psychosis, food and body issues, and same-sex attracted young women. She's been running an online international discussion group with over 1,000 members for almost 5 years. She's created the local Hearing Voices Network , and an international network called the Dissociative Initiative providing free information and other resources directly to the community. 


Sarah's personal blog shares valuable and very personal information about topics such mental health, sexual health, and trauma recovery - all free and with no ads or other income directly from readers except for kind donations. Many of her speaking engagements come from blog readers who appreciate her courage and insight into the complexity and hope of human experiences. She has invested heavily in her community even during times of major personal challenge and financial stress.
