Medical Expenses for Stage 4 Cancer
Donation protected
To those who know him, know that he’s one of the best people you may come across. At least that’s what his 3 kids will say about him. He is a kind, loving, caring person who will give you the shirt off his back.
A few years ago our dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. He changed his entire diet and quit smoking. The doctors scheduled surgery and was able to remove a good portion of his colon and he was told he was cancer free.
Our dad thought he needed a PET scan to check for anything else circulating in his system, but the insurance he was under wouldn’t cover it because they seen no use in doing more testing because he was considered cancer free. Every year since his diagnosis he has test ran to make sure his cancer hasn’t came back.
This past year in 2023 his numbers were in the 430’s. The normal number is 3-5. Our dad’s numbers the year prior in 2022 was 4. So we knew it had come back, and we had to wait months to find out where, and what kind, and what the steps we needed to take would be.
After a much anticipated but dreaded phone call we was told he has stage 4 liver and lung cancer originating from his previous colon cancer. We all thought if only the PET scan his insurance wouldn’t cover was done they would have caught this and we could’ve done more treatment and prevented everything going on right now. He has done everything right, he’s never been a drinker a day in his life and has done everything in his power to live the best way. He got Baptized on July 25, 2021 and has done nothing but grow his faith with God and believe every bit in the power of prayer. We never got to see that part of our dad growing up, but as adults it’s the biggest blessing in the world that we get to grow and walk in it with him. And if I must say, watching him get baptized flipped a switch in my soul to believe and feel our God like I’ve never felt before.
My sister, my brother and I are setting this up for our dad because he needs help more than anything right now with travel expenses (3+ hour trip to, 3+ hour trip back) to Atlanta for treatment, medical expenses due to being in between insurances and monthly bills. He is a self employed business owner of Thompson Flooring and work for him has become so hard in between treatments of chemo and eventually he won’t be working at all, but through every bit of this he has stayed positive and smiled often and done nothing but try to reassure us and keep us in high spirits. He’s the best part of our hearts and we need our daddy. If you have anything you can give and can say a prayer for our dad it would be so appreciated. We all know our dad wouldn’t want us setting this up because he has always been a provider but hard times have hit. We do want to thank everyone that has already been there whether it’s been financially or just a great friend for him to talk and pray with. It’s been absolutely amazing at the kindness that has been shown to him. We can’t thank everyone enough and again we believe in the power of prayer and God that he can beat this!
