Hi Friends! I'm excited to share with you that I have the opportunity to go to Podgorica, Montenegro for 11 days to serve with the "Montenegro Hope" ministry of Centreville Baptist Church (CBC).
Let's get one important piece of information out of the way so you are not wondering the whole time. Montenegro is a country sandwiched between Bosnia, Serbia, Kosovo, and Albania. Here is a lovely visual, courtesy of Google Maps:
The Roma people that we will be working with are refugees from the Kosovo war in 1999 that were displaced and fled to Montenegro. They live in horrible, destitute conditions right alongside the city dump. They are often unable to get jobs because of lack of documentation, which further keeps them in poverty. CBC has partnered with a local church planter there for about seven years now. Several teams travel there each year, allowing relationships to grow and blossom with the people of the Konik refugee camp.
While our team is in Montenegro, from July 25th to August 5th, we will lead daily Children's Bible Clubs (basically a VBS) for the Roma children. Our Bible stories and teachings for this trip will be based around a theme of "Underdogs". We all can relate to this in one way or another, but the Roma children especially need to hear that God has not forgotten about them and loves them despite society trying to shun them. These precious kids need to know that they are valued and important. We want to provide hope where there often is none. God is all-powerful, all-loving, and we are conquerers with Him on our side!
Please partner with me in this journey to share God's love and teach them more about His Word and the truths they so desperately need to hear. A financial donation is much appreciated if God has blessed you to be in a position to do so. However, we also need lots of prayers! I'm excited to see how God will work in the hearts of the Roma people and am thankful for whatever type of support you are able to offer!
