Help Syd Pay For Storm Tree Damage

Our beloved friend, Sydney Newberg, loves where she lives, largely because of the many beautiful trees on her lot. Many of us have fond memories sharing conversation, food and drinks in her back yard (hammock!!!), sun porch and front porch, all while enjoying the warmth of her friendship and lovely ambiance of her unique and wooded yard.
Syd is a generous soul, always ready to lend an ear to anyone in need. She is a Psychologist and skilled therapist with many years of experience working with children and adults. She has a special love for kids and readily donates her time.
Unfortunately, last week's storm was not kind to Syd's yard. The wind knocked down 3 very large, old hardwoods -- each completely blocking her driveway. The downed trees range in trunk size from 18" in diameter to about 3' at the base, and were probably approximately 60' tall. The largest tree is still half standing, but is clearly rotting at the base and needs to be fully removed in order to avoid another storm disaster.
Fortunately, no one got hurt when this occurred and Syd's house was not damaged. Unfortunately, the cost to clear the trees will be around $8,000 -- a staggering amount. The cost is particularly staggering given the recent economic challenges we have all faced. Syd, like many of us, saw her income and savings adversely affected by the Great Recession. Although our economy and Syd's client base has seen improvement, enough time has not passed to rebuild the emergency savings. Consequently, Syd is facing a difficult decision whether and how to take care of addressing these once beautiful trees now mercilessly strewn about her driveway.
But we can all pool together and help out. Any amount we each can donate will be beneficial -- and together we can make a measurable difference.
