A home for Christine and Ricky!

Donation protected
Have you ever known someone who makes you want to be a better person? Someone who makes you take a look at your life and notice all the blessings? I have and her name is Christine McDonald. When Christine and I met, she was a newly blind single mom of a baby, trying to go to college and I was her test proctor. That was 7 years ago and now I am lucky to call her my friend.

Through the years, Christine has been no stranger to adversity. Homelessness, blindness:and she still prevails. Her motivating factor is her son, Ricky:providing for his safety and well-being. In fact, she moved from a home in Kansas City, where she had a job with a local employment company, to St. Charles, Missouri, so that she could build a better life for Ricky. She found an apartment that she could afford and, shortly thereafter, took a position with the employment company's office in St. Louis. Unfortunately, shortly after they hired her, the company that Christine was working for closed its doors. She has been seeking work ever since.

Now, however, Christine is unable to find work and her unemployment has run out. Still a survivor, Christine refuses to give up. When the money got too tight, Christine, in a valiant effort to provide for Ricky, who is now 7, wrote a book, Cry Purple, about her days on the streets. You can follow her blog at www.crypurple.wordpress.com. All of the profits made from book sales are going into a fund for her to buy a small trailer house for her and Ricky "“ a safe place with a yard where Ricky can play and Christine can house a guide dog, so Ricky will be able to be a kid sometimes, rather than his mom's helper. A place where he will have his own room and his own space (currently, they share a one bedroom and sleep on a bunkbed).

Amazingly, Christine has found a small trailer: a 2 bedroom trailer, in good shape, that is perfect for her and Ricky, and it will be ready to buy in just a few weeks. Christine is more than halfway to her goal of paying for it, but is $5000 dollars short. A safe home, that is paid for, will give Christine the opportunity to live within her means and provide Ricky with the life he so richly deserves. Will you please help? Every donation counts and is greatly appreciated!
