Making Someone's Dream Happen!

Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues,

Last fall I discovered a wonderful organization called RAMP America, and after personally meeting founder Amy Guerriere and her staff, I was inspired to help them with a new project.

"Launched in the Fall of 2012, the Youth in Microenterprise program invests in high school seniors to address chronic poverty and lack of opportunity in Martin County, Kentucky. The program provides start-up capital, mentorship, and sustained support needed for seniors to design a solid business plan and effectively launch their business upon graduation."

The video link above will introduce you to the original micro loan program, which is tailored for Martin County adult residents, and features Amy as well.

This student program really speaks to me, as it offers opportunities to young men and women who likely won't have the opportunity to attend college at this time, but who can become an important building block in the economic future of their community...which is one of the poorest in America.

The beautiful part of the Microenterprise program (as you may know from similar successful models throughout Africa), is that the loans are repaid by the recipients, and funneled towards future loans to other new businesses, allowing the program to expand, and in time, become self-sustaining.

I'd like to ask for your support in raising the funding to cover the loan for one of the four students in the inaugural program --

17 year old Larry Workman, who will be launching a computer repair business. Larry was selected by RAMP executives and advisers after an extensive 9-month evaluation and mentoring process.

Any help that you can provide would be sincerely appreciated. Together we can provide an incredible opportunity which can change someone's life for the long term. And your donation today will in turn help other young people in this "pay it forward" model of giving.

Those of you who know me well know that I have rarely (if ever) asked for support of any project I've become involved in, but I feel strongly that the caliber of this organization and their goals warrants my speaking out and working to raise the needed funds.

Thank you so much for your consideration of what I believe is a very worthwhile cause!!

Hugs,

Sandy

p.s. I will be sure to keep you personally apprised of Larry's progress.
