This is our baby girl Alexis , our youngest of 7 children .. This is her story..
A few weeks ago Drs found a large mass in babies abdomen while she was still in utero. Drs said they would watch it and see how it went as at that stage they didnt know what it was but didnt think it would pose any problems .. BOY were they WRONG!.. At the same time i was admitted to hospital as she was tachycardia & bradycardia ..
After her being consistantly tachycardia ( high heart rate ) for several days they decided to induce.. this resulted in an emergency C section as she suddenly plummeted from 223 to 11 beats per minute.
Alexis was born non responsive and drs spent 12 mins reviving her..
At a week old alexis started to vomit all her feeds and had consitstant diareah.. she would also scream non stop. She was admitted to special care nursery where drs diagnosed gastro.. They dismissed my concerns about her mass causing symptoms and was discharged home a week later with symptoms still present.
Unhappy with The hospitals diagnosis we sought a second opinion from the Childrens hospital a couple hrs from home ..
Upon examination and an ultrasound she was immediatly rushed through for emergency surgery..
Alexis rigth ovary had completly contorted ( it has twisted /seperated off the fallopion tube.)The mass had also grown and adhered to her left fallopion tube twisting it and her left ovary to it.
It had also adhered and compromised her appendix and her bowel.
Surgery was complex and long.
Alexis needed blood transfusions and is on a ventilator as she cannot breath on her own.
She is persistantly tachycardia or bradycardia being admitted to intensive care ( NICU).
Her mass has been sent away for testing as they are unsure if it is malignant or benign.
Weve set up this go fund me page as At birth we had Alexis stem and cord blood collected and stored... Weve raised over $2200 towards this but need assistance to raise the remaining $2000 so we can access her stored cells / blood. We can use this for blood transfusions and if her mass comes back as malignant we can also use it for treatment towards this.
My husband has missed so much work in the past 8 wks with my pregnancy and then baby admitted to hospital he has had to run the house and care for our other children.. so with no income coming in weve not been able to raise the full funds needed.,
