The Gift of Music
Hello Community,
We Need Your Help. We are a small Victoria based company and every year we love to help our community. Until last year typically we have helped with our homeless community during the Christmas period by cooking and providing hundreds of meals to shelters and the Mustard Seed. Our community is deeply important to us.
Last year things changed a little after we saw a post about a free guitar for families who didn't have much. Touched by the sentiment we approached Long & McQuade (Victoria) and Tapestry Music Victoria and purchased 2 guitars at a discount and were donated 2 other types of guitar from the above local music shops. We then created a post and asked people to comment or message if they had little for their families and the names were put in to a tumbler and drawn at random. Each winning family was able to come and dine with us for free and receive their wrapped guitar on Christmas eve. Some families came with the children and some families wanted the surprise. Either way, it was joy and laughter all round (maybe even a few tears of joy too!).
We Need Your Help!
We had far more messages than we had guitars and so this year we would like to do "The Gift of Music" again and hope we might be able to provide more instruments to more children. If you have a small instrument in good shape that might be giftable which you are not using and you would be happy to trade it in for free lunch we would love to do so. In return, not only will you get a free lunch on us you will also be helping a child who may not have much this Christmas receive The Gift of Music, for many, this is a gift for life.
We have had a few messages asking if people can simply donate toward the cost of some new instruments (namely guitars like we purchased last year) and we really appreciate it and we are very thankful for our awesome community.
The cost of a new guitar is around $150+tax ($170). We promise to purchase 2 new guitars from our cafe and hope if we are able to raise any money we could buy a few more too. Absolutely none of the donated money is used for anything other the purchase of instruments and the paper to wrap them in.
Some funds if we were to have any extra may be used to "put right" any donated instruments for example, a guitar with missing strings.
Should the campaign gain a lot of traction we would also feed more of our homeless and hungry community this Christmas Holiday Season.
