Hello! Our names are Erin and Mackenzie, and we are hoping to help our family member, Mark, begin his heart transplant journey. Mark is the life partner of Mackenzie’s mother and has been a cherished member of this family for the last 7 years. He much enjoys reading, writing, cooking and photography. 

 

There is a laundry list of transplant prep work to be done and we need your help in doing so. The most important things include: moving close to his transplant hospital, Northwestern Memorial in IL, (from GA) and help with the cumbersome medical bills that come in tow. It’s imperative they move and prepare quickly, as his own heart is unfortunately on the outs and a new heart is hard to come by.

Marks heart troubles began back in 1998, with a misdiagnosis of the flu. Resulting, he experienced his first heart attack, unfortunately sustaining heart damage to his left ventricle, the necessary workhorse of the muscle. Since his first attack, he has had many run-ins with hospital visits and medical setbacks. We have reached the point of the big plunge-needing transplant.

In creating this fundraiser, we aim to have him moved comfortably back to central WI-close enough for us to support, transport and care for him properly. Funds raised will go toward towering medical bills, necessary moving expenses. They will also be put toward dental work and an insulin pump, as both are crucial parts of infection control and bodily regulation. We need to ensure this heart transplant will be as successful as possible. With your help, we will be able to do so. We’re very hopeful Mark will have a new lease on life. Time is of the essence, so we greatly appreciate your generosity at this time.
