Fernando's Fight vs. Cancer

This is my father, and he's the strongest man I know. When you're a kid, your dad is your hero, your superman...nothing can touch him #canttouchthis or beat him up. Dads stay strong- they don't flinch when they remove splinters or when they hit their fingers with a hammer. They have the biggest muscles and the stinkiest farts (LOL). They work long, hard hours and sometimes in all elements- heat, snow, thunderstorms- all to provide for their families. Our dad has worked so hard his whole life and sometimes struggled to be there for my sisters and me BUT he never let us forget how much he loved us. One thing I've learned from him (amongst the many things) is that life goes on and you have to move with it, forgive and forget, and leave hate behind because it'll eat you up. My dad has also shown me that the love of a parent has for his children is truly infinite no matter where they might be, no matter how old they are, and no matter who they become.

There are so many things that I could share with you but I say all of this, with a very heavy heart, to tell you that this week he was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer. The cancer has spread to his liver and while it is incurable, it is treatable. It has blindsided us and right now everything is quite a whirlwind. He is out of the hospital, for now, and resting at home.

The purpose of this campaign is to cover anything that his insurance will not and to help my step-mom out with the household expenses. Dad was the main provider of his household but will be out of work for a while and my step-mom will become his primary caregiver. Therefore creating a gap in income. Our dad is also father to 4 girls in their combined household- two of whom are still completely dependent on him. While myself and the two older girls are doing everything we can to help with finances, we are going to need all the help we can get to make these ends meet. So I started this campaign in hopes that our friends, family, and acquaintances will find it in their hearts to lend a hand. Even if you can't donate $, if you know an expert dietician, have knowledge on any medical or govt assistance programs, therapies to manage the stress, work-from-home jobs, if you're an expert organizer etc. please feel free to pass that information along to us.

Our family truly appreciates the time you took to read all of this and we are very thankful for each one of you. If you have any questions, reach out to me or my sisters via Facebook.

Thanks and many blessings to all,

Mannie, Amaris, and Ariana
