Boarding School Expenses

Donation protected
My name is LaJeromeny Brown; I am 16 years old going into my senior year of high school.  Last summer, I began a campaign to begin pursuing my dreams at The School of American Ballet (SAB) in New York City. All the support amazed me; I received from such phenomenal people in Chattanooga, Tennessee. With the money raised, I went to the School of American Ballet’s Summer Intensive. During the program, I was asked to stay at their year-round boarding school. I had enough of the money left over to pay for the fees, expenses, and supplies needed to move to New York. I recently finished my first year and the amount of growth as a dancer and person has been remarkable. It has been the most amazing experience to train in New York. I was blessed with so many great opportunities by moving. During this time at the school, I’ve been completely financially independent because of the work study programs SAB offers. This allowed me to be able to pay for the very expensive prices in the city. Also, I wanted to give my mother a chance to focus on her younger children. So, I saved money and paid for my summer intensives fees and traveling expenses, but now I don’t have the money to begin the new school year, which is why I am asking for help again. There are fees for me to continue studying there:

·         a fee of about $450 (covers activity fees, laundry fees, and technology fees)

·         traveling expenses which would be about $500(includes plane ticket, public transit tickets, and cabs upon my arrival)

·          school supplies and fees $150-$200

·          new dorm supplies $500 (laundry detergent, wash rags, towels, pillows, sheets personal products regarding hygiene, etc.),

·          new dance clothes $300 (Tights, dance shirts/leotards, socks, and ballet shoes)

I planned to get a job, but considering I will only be in my hometown for about four weeks it would not work out. I’ve exhausted all my options for paying for it myself. This would give me a head start before beginning the work study program. Of course, it is hard to ask again, but I am extremely close to coming of age to get a professional dancing job. Until then I will continue to work my hardest to train and get there. Again, this is my dream and I need help to continue in this positive direction. Thank you all for your continuous support. It is truly a blessing to come from such a supporting community. I am forever grateful. Every little thing counts.

With Love,

LaJeromeny Brown
