3D Printed Filtered Protective Masks
During such a difficult time for our country, we couldn’t just sit and watch. We were inspired to play our part by the many initiatives that have been launched to support who is fighting COVID-19 on the frontlines.
As a way to actively contribute to this fight against COVID-19, our team decided to step up and develop personal protection masks in hypoallergenic polymeric material with substitutable filters. We want to donate these to our institutions who are fighting in the frontlines (we are currently in talks with various healthcare institutions to define who'll be the beneficiary of this donation, and we’ll gladly share more information very soon).
The key features of this mask are that it can be disinfected and reused, by substituting the filter daily. This guarantees a safe and sustainable product. The device is distributed in a kit that includes a reusable mask shell and 10 filters that can be changed daily, to cover individuals’ needs for two weeks. After having concluded the development, design and engineering phases where we prototyped over 100 masks, we began the certification process aligned with the directions provided in the Art.15 of the law decree from March 17, 2020, n.18.
After having received approval, line production will start. We’ve decided to fully dedicate 15 of our 3D industrial printers in our Lomazzo production center, but our objective is to produce and donate as many masks as possible. This is why we need your contributions.
Our target proceeds from this campaign will be used to produce, assemble and distribute 5000 kits (1 mask + 10 filters in each kit), corresponding to 50000 disposable masks, that we'll donate to hospital facilities in Italy.

In un momento di così grande difficoltà per il nostro paese, ispirati dalle tante iniziative lanciate per supportare chi sta combattendo in prima linea contro il COVID-19, non potevamo rimanere a guardare.
Per contribuire attivamente alla lotta contro il COVID-19, il nostro team ha deciso di fare un passo in più e sviluppare maschere protettive in materiale polimerico ipoallergenico dotate di filtro intercambiabile. Il nostro obiettivo è donarle alle nostre istituzioni impegnate in prima linea in questa battaglia (stiamo dialogando con varie strutture ospedaliere per definire il beneficiario della donazione, informazioni più specifiche verranno fornite a breve).
Queste maschere sono riutilizzabili lavando e disinfettando la scocca e sostituendo quotidianamente solo il filtro, rendendole un prodotto sostenibile e sicuro. Il dispositivo è distribuito in un kit contentente una scocca della maschera riutilizzabile e 10 filtri intercambiabili quotidianamente, per coprire il fabbisogno individuale per due settimane. Dopo aver concluso le fasi di studio, design e ingegnerizzazione in cui abbiamo realizzato e testato piu’ di 100 prototipi, abbiamo iniziato l’iter certificativo, in linea con le direttive dell’Art. 15 del Decreto-legge del 17 Marzo 2020, n.18.
Non appena verrà ricevuta l’approvazione verrà avviata la produzione in serie. Ad oggi abbiamo dedicato le nostre 15 stampanti 3D industriali nel nostro centro di produzione di Lomazzo.
Tutti i proventi di questa campagna verranno utilizzati per produrre, assemblare e distrubire 5000 kit (1 maschera + 10 filtri in ogni kit), che equivalgono a 50000 mascherine usa e getta, da donare alle strutture ospedialiere Italiane.
