3D-printed PPE for GTHA Healthcare Workers!

We are a team of medical and healthcare students at UofT and McMaster that aim to produce 3D printed personal protective equipment (PPE) for front-line healthcare workers in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). We are working to produce protective face shields that are approved for use by relevant Occupational Health and Public Health administrations.

Currently, there is a dire shortage of PPE at various hospitals. In Toronto, Michael Garron Hospital has asked us for 10,000 face shields which we are working hard to fulfill. We have also received multiple requests from hospitals and clinics in Toronto, Markham, Scarborough, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Niagara, and more, for a total demand of over 20,000 face shields.

We have already produced over 6000 face shield frames, and over 3000 full face shields that are being distributed. We are working with 70+ community printers and laser/water cutters. We have partnered with over 20 organizations and corporations. This is all thanks to your contribution to our hard-working team. 

We are using the 3DVerkstan North American 6-hole model that has been approved by staff all over the world, including Columbia University Medical Center/New York-Presbyterian Hospital staff in the US and Kingston General Hospital staff in Kingston, Ontario (Queen's University). We are also working with a team at the UHN to develop a Health Canada certified 3D printed N95-equivalent face mask. More information can be found at a link coming soon.

The funds you contribute will be used for supplies such as filaments, plastic sheets, filters, as well as logistical costs such as shipping, handling, delivery, as needed. Want to volunteer?
