Volunteering in Fiji
Donation protected
This summer I am going to Fiji to volunteer for one of Think Pacific’s social projects, providing children in Fiji’s most remote areas with access to improved education, health, opportunity and infrastructure. Since the charity’s first project in 2009, Think Pacific has had an incredible impact across the country, supporting over 20,000 children, increasing school attendance by 15% and improving literacy rates by 40%, amongst other amazing achievements you can find on their website (link below). The place I am going to is called Kadavu and while I am there I shall be working as a teaching assistant to local school teachers as well as providing mentoring to young Fijian students. I will also be running sports activities for the children on a daily basis, along with a team of other volunteers.
In order to raise money for this charity and to help fund my trip, on the 29th March 2018 myself and a group of my supportive course mates will be undertaking a sponsored kayak expedition along the River Arun. We will be kayaking along a route covering a distance of 30km (18.6 miles) in the hope of raising £3000, a minimum of £1800 of which is being raised for the Think Pacific charity with a further target of £1200 to help cover my travel costs. Thanks in advance for any support you are able to provide.
