Our Faith Isn’t Crumbling, But Our Parking Lot IS!!!
We need your help. Our church is raising funds to fully renovate our heavily used parking lot. Despite periodic maintenance it is past its useful life and needs to be excavated, regraded, repaved and relined.
Why do we need help? This is a very large expense (estimated at $100,000) for a small church that has little-to-no annual funds available for large capital projects. We are looking for assistance from a larger community due to the widespread use of the parking area, church, and missions that we support. Although primary church services are held weekly on Sundays, our church is used daily for many purposes.
Typical uses include:
· Parking for the public that receives benefits from our Food Pantry. The pantry is supported by members of the church and community through financial and food donation. In a typical month 300-600 individuals and 100-300 families are supplied with essential food items to stem hunger and supplement insufficient nutrition. The pantry is open to the public to serve those needing assistance.
· Parents, relatives, and guardians of children that attend the nursery school that rents space at our facility.
· Parents, relatives, and guardians of children that participate in one of the several Girl and Boy Scout troops that use our facilities for their regular meetings and special events throughout the year.
· Fire and Police Department staff for draining fire hoses, maintaining equipment, and other activities related to serving the public.
· General public access for parking use as a base to ride bicycles, walk dogs, and to support community fundraising walk-a-thon and running events.
· Use by church ministries and church-funded activities and events.
What can you do to help? This parking lot is a crucial element of the church in support of our greater ministry in serving the community. Please consider a donation to this specific 2-3 year project, and you will make a positive impact on many charitable causes and community, as well as, the First Congregational Church of Scarborough and its extended ministries.
