3D Scanning& Printing for the Blind

Donation protected
Many kids give their moms drawings and cards or pictures for Mother's Day but that wouldn't work for mine. Last year I was able to create a picture that my mom would be able to have for the rest of her life, a permanent idea of what her parents look like. We scanned and 3D printed my grandparents and I was able to give them to her. Nothing beats the reactions and tears that came afterward. She said, "I've never been able to have a picture, now I do".

My mom has been blind for most of her life, meaning she hasn't seen her parents since she lost her sight, nearly 40 years ago. She has never seen her husband and has never seen any of her seven children's faces either. The 3D prints allowed my mom a forever physical picture of her parents, and have become one of her most cherished possessions, especially after her mom, my Nana, died, just seven months later.

New technology now makes it possible for blind and visually impaired people to own 360-degree 3D prints of loved ones. I've created this page to raise money in order to get the equipment to continue to make these forever pictures available to anyone who has never seen the special people in their lives. The funds raised will go toward the technology needed to scan and print lifelike renderings such as a computer, 3D scanner and its software, as well as a 3D printer.

I hope to offer people an experience they've never had and memories they can keep forever.

It's always good to have memories to hold on to, and you have to find ways to hold on to those memories to comfort ourselves or to remember good times. Everything changes, kids grow up and leave for college, parents or grandparents pass away, but these prints offer a chance to remember things as they are now, for years to come.

Your donation will make my mom's experience possible for blind and visually impaired people throughout the country.
