3 Day Field Experience to RMNP

The best gifts are not things, but experiences. That's what I try to offer to my middle school students in St. Paul, Minnesota. For those who have traveled, you already know the power of place and have experienced first hand how visiting a new place can open your eyes to numerous possibilities and a better understanding of the world around us. Unfortunately, many of our students can only imagine what it would be like to travel and have not yet had the opportunity. That's where you can play a part in creating an educational experience that my students will remember for a lifetime!
On May 31, 2018, I am planning to take twelve students, who have never flown before, on a powerful three day field experience to the Rocky Mountains to experience the power of travel, geography and place. As part of our 2nd annual Voice, Choice & Joy Day at Capitol Hill, we will fly from Minneapolis to Denver and head to Estes Park, Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park for an excursion of a lifetime. We will camp inside Rocky Mountain National Park, explore the history and geography of the park with National Park Rangers, learn how to use a compass and read topographic maps while we explore numerous hiking trails, and much more.
Of course, a trip like this is costly, but I have already secured a $2,000 donation in order to make this a reality for my students. This adventure will undoubtedly be a life changing event. More importantly, I want these students to see that there are people who believe in them, their education and their future and are willing to help open the door so they can go out into the world and experience the limitless possibilities that exist.
Undoubtedly, your gift would provide my students with a better understanding of our vast landscape and the unlimited possibilities that lay ahead of them. This unforgettable experience has the potential to be a springboard to unlimited possibilities for these students, as they continue to grow into our next leaders.
