Help bring Julie home

Donation protected

Introduction
Hello, my name is Cathy and it is with a heavy and humble heart that I am reaching out to you all for help. Wilma, the kindest and strongest woman I've known, suffered from a stroke on July 6th. While she is still recovering, Wilma is in desperate need of help so she can continue to provide care for her severely disabled daughter, Julie.

I’ve started this kickstarter campaign to try and raise $55,000 for Wilma to bring her disabled daughter Julie home, by preparing her home with the necessary equipment to allow Wilma to safely provide care and transport to her.

Backstory
Julie was born August 7th, 1985 with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. This led to suffocation, which ultimately left Julie with severe brain damage, rendering her unable to walk, talk or feed herself and requires complete care.

Wilma, a single mother, has raised Julie and two boys all on her own for years by cleaning houses. Thirty-three years after Julie was diagnosed, Wilma has remained Julie's primary caretaker and continues to clean houses to pay the bills, until her recent stroke.

The stroke that Wilma suffered from severely compromised her ability to lift Julie. As a result, Julie now resides temporarily in a special care home (which is located over an hour away from Wilma).

Objective
Your generous donations will help us bring Julie home by providing Wilma the necessary tools to care for her. This includes:

Three new ceiling lifts, living room, Julie’s bedroom and bathroom.
New porch wheelchair lift (With battery backup system).
A 2014 Dodge Minivan that has been configured for wheelchair transportation.

These will allow Wilma to continue to provide the level of care that Julie needs without worsening her health condition. Your donations will be used towards installing electric ceiling track lifts throughout the house, along with a new porch lift to get her in and out of the home. In addition, your donations will help Wilma replace her 26-year old wheelchair van that is at the end of its life, with ongoing electrical issues that cannot be resolved. Wilma has always been the first to offer help to anyone in need in whatever way she can, despite life’s adversities. Please join me in helping Wilma bring Julie home.
