In March of this year I had surgery to remove a pesky appendix which had been giving me trouble for a couple of months. They discovered a tumor in my appendix and colon. A week after surgery the biopsy showed I had Stage 3 colon cancer. Previous to that surgery I had only been in the hospital to have my two children. Now a new adventure started with tests, scans, various doctors and appointments. Life revolved around cancer.

Two years before this diagnosis, I had been unhealthy; getting viruses every couple of months, popping ibuprophen for joint pain, rising weight and cholesterol and just all around feeling old! A friend introduced me to a way to flood my body with fruits and veggies and from there I learned more about what my body was craving to get healthy. That was the catalyst to a huge change for the better. I lost 25 pounds, got rid of inflammation, stopped getting sick, lowered my cholesterol, got into consistent exercise and felt 20 years younger. Don't let anyone tell you, "Oh, that's just old age". Changing your nutrition can make a huge difference and help you to live long AND live well.

I felt so good now at 62 and couldn't believe I had cancer but my doctors told me it was slow growing and had been there for years. Perhaps a colonoscopy years earlier could have saved me from this "adventure". At any rate, I was just glad to have improved my health so I was going into this cancer battle from a place of strength.

In April I began six months of chemotherapy; every two weeks for twelve treatments. At the same time I tripled up on my Juice Plus which gave me the benefits of juicing several times a day. I know that helped balance my immune system as the chemo did its work. I was very healthy going thru chemo with few side effects. My hair thinned quite a bit and I suffered the painful and frustrating effects of neuropathy at times but for the most part was able to do what I wanted eat well and life was usually pretty normal.

In June we found a clinical study that had just been released stating that patients with my exact diagnosis fair as well with six treatments and have less long term side effects from the chemotherapy. We showed it to my oncologist, he was aware of it and when I went in for my sixth round of chemo, he said it would be my last. Hallelujah! Another unexpected blessing. I finished my chemo in July and am excited to have cancer behind me!

I have started this gofundme website to raise money for my medical bills I have yet to pay, more tests and scans over the next few months and to be able to keep tripling up on my Juice Plus as well as add in several supplements recommended by Dr Susan Silverstein at beatcancer.org. These kind of costs are not covered by insurance and I know they will help me build my body back up again.

You can help me by donating here and that would be awesome. Also, if you can see the potential for bettering your own health and/or your family and loved ones by looking into taking Juice Plus, you will be helping us both. The more people I help get healthy, the more I can meet my own financial needs. Please visit my website if that's of interest.  http://debrakay.juiceplus.com/us/en

Thank you you for taking the time to read my story and consider helping me. God is good and I know I have Him to thank for saving my life! May He bless you too.
