Help the Doug Yates Family

Many folks in Southwest Oklahoma are familiar with the wonderfully talented Yates family. Doug and Allison are the proud parents of Alyssa and Skylr. The entire family have been faithful supporters of the arts.

Doug, Allison and daughter Alyssa found their way onstage at Lawton Community Theatre, while son Skylr found his niche backstage.  In addition, Allison is a celebrated private voice teacher, and Doug once lead the music at his church.

Liver illness forced Doug to take a break. Little did he realize that would become permanent. Then the illness forced Doug to stop working, as a result he lost health insurance. The illness has progressed to cirrhosis of the liver. Because his liver does not function properly, it dangerously causes ammonia to build up in his body. This causes him to lose consciousness and force his kidneys to work very hard, so they are now at a very low functioning capability.

In April, Doug needed emergency surgery. He now desperately needs a liver transplant. Medical bills are compounding. An application for disability has been denied and is under appeal. In the meantime the family is struggling to stay on top of medical and household expenses with only one income coming in.
