Our Cause – To End the Stigma of Mental Illness;
Anytime Fitness in Stewartville, MN will be hosting the 1st Annual, "Samuel L. Becker 5K Walk/Run" on May 21st at 9:00am. Proceeds from this event, along with any donations we receive, will be donated to the Mayo Clinic Mental Health Research Department and help sponsor the Samuel L. Becker Scholarship.
Our Friend – Our Co-Worker;
On Wednesday, February 17th we lost our dear friend/co-worker Samuel L. Becker. In the short 21 years of life that Samuel had on this Earth, he made a life-time of positive impact on every person he came into contact with. Samuel was truly the kindest and most caring individual we had ever met. He had a passion for people & fitness, and he truly believed that fitness could change every aspect of a person's life.
Unfortunately, hidden behind Samuel's joyful and energetic personality, he had long suffered from mental illness. Samuel was always striving to improve himself and overcome the constant negative thoughts. Sadly, Samuel decided that taking his own life was the only way to escape the pain.
Despite all of his own personal struggles, he was always concerned about the well-being of others before his own. His selfless and sacrificial mentality will forever be an inspiration to his friends & family. This Memorial Fund is being used to make sure that Samuel's death wasn't in vain and to spread the word about the seriousness of mental illness.
Donations of any size will be greatly appreciated and will directly help us win the battle against mental illness. Together, we can end the stigma and make Samuel proud by helping others who suffered from mental illness just like him. Thank you for your support!
