Bekir Seran Cancer Support Fund

Today we call on the community to help a young family in need. Bekir Seran is a 33 year old family man who has been recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Bekir has been married to his wife Alicia for 11 years and the couple have a beautiful two-year old son named Evren Daniel. Bekir is known for his good character, honesty and zest for life. His many interests include playing soccer, swimming, camping, cooking and being with friends and family. He is an amazing father who cherishes his young son, as well a loving and supportive husband. His diagnosis came after months of chronic back pain that impaired his ability to lead his normal life. He was treated by several doctors and chiropractors; none of which could relieve or explain his debilitating pain. Finally, in April of 2013 a trip to the E.R. for severe back and abdominal pain revealed a 6 cm mass behind his pancreas. Further testing would show that the cancer had spread to the liver. The family met with a cancer specialist who confirmed their worst fear: Bekir was told that he had terminal pancreas cancer and the goal in treatment would be palliative. That is, chemotherapy, which would delay the spread of cancer and seek to minimize pain. The treatment offered no cure and would be brutal. By the grace of God, the family was connected to several friends and family doctor who recommended an alternative therapy that would be gentle on the body and had years of success in treating terminal cancer patients. Alicia and Bekir have depleted their savings, and still face many obstacles as they seek to heal Bekir and begin their journey towards battling this ugly disease. Not only the cost of treatment(which is not covered under their insurance), but also the cost of living, as Bekir will be unable to work and Alicia takes the role of his full-time caregiver. As well as the expense of medication and healthy foods that are essential to recovery and quality of life. Alicia has completed two bachelor degrees at Rowan University and is currently registered for student teaching for the Semester of Spring 2013, her last obstacle before becoming an Elementary Education teacher. She is needed at home to care for sick husband and young son, but is determined to achieve this goal and secure her family's future. We humbly ask for whatever you can give to aid this family in their time of need. Your prayers, or contributions are greatly appreciated! Thank you and God Bless!
