A "Dramatic" Leap of Faith!

Donation protected

Hello! Thank you for visiting my "Go Fund Me" page!
I have embarked on a journey to further my career in Germany. While it does take courage, prepartion and drive, it also takes finanical flexibility to make things happen.
I ask you to please take a minute to read my story. If you feel inclined to donate or even share it with others whom you think might want to help, it would truly mean the world to me!!
Sincerely Yours,
Courtney

In the winter of 2013 I made a promise to myself. I promised to go back to singing and pursue it full time. This was a hard desicion BUT I knew that music was my true calling!

By April of 2013 I was given the opportunity to sing the role of Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor with the Montefeltro Festival and the La musica lirica program in Italy, I had the opportunity to work with some outstanding professionals who have since helped me along this journey.

I read a statistic that Germany and other parts of Europe (like Austira, Sweden and Switzerland) have more opera houses, concert halls and cultural centers than all of the US combined and that these venues are state funded not privately funded as it is in the United States.

German opera houses offer something called "Fest" or "Ensemble" contracts. These contracts allow a singer to be fully employed as a soloist singing various roles over the year. For example, I could be employed to sing Violetta, Musetta, Konstanze and Donna Anna-all back to back or even overlapping! Really intense schedules, but I would be making a salary with benefits!! This just simply does not exist in the United States!

I must continue to sing for as many agents and opera houses as possible. I have already made major strides towards this goal. In May 2014 I sang with the Bremen Philharmonic and I sang my first Violetta in July 2014!! Such an exciting time!!
More recently I was part of a demo for a cartoon movie as a operatic comic character and I have attained a A 2 year extension for my Artist Visa (which was no easy task).  While it does allow me to work, I can only legally work in music and the arts.

That means I have NO other way to earn money in part-time jobs as I have done in the US. No Starbucks barista job, no waitressing, etc... only "Arts" -related jobs.

Right now I am here in Berlin in the midst of auditions, concerts and some new possibilites on the horizon...

Life is unpredictable we never know what tomorrow will bring... this is why it is so important to follow ones dreams as much as possible because without your dreams and ambitions what are we living for?
We must always work hard and dream big!

Remember your donatations would go towards expenses such as; travel to and from auditions, recordings, coachings and lessons, hiring accompanists
