My Dad's Medical Fund

My name is Mia, I'm originally from Jakarta, Indonesia. I've been living in the United States for 7.5 years to follow my ex-husband who was from California. As a woman who came from overseas, I've been through so many storms, ups and down, to be able to survive and reach my American dreams.

I've been serving the community where I live in Salt Lake City, Utah since the first year of my arrival. I worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA to serve the refugees and immigrants in making sure that they will get the best service from Salt Lake City Government. It's my passion to help people in need and I sincerely want to see them happy and successful.

It's hard for me to live alone far away from my family. Indonesia is accross the globe from USA. It's about 24 hours flight to get there. It's a rare opportunity for me to see my parents. 

Since I am the only daugther, I'm always making sure that my parents are happy and healthy. I always try to give the moral and financial support so they will be able to go through their days nicely and can take care of their needs back home.

I always miss them and I just want to see them and hold them. I asked them to come and visit me this year. They were able to come last month and went through the immigration process. But, my father became ill  while they were here in the United States. 

My dad had three strokes! :-(

It's painful to see my beloved father fights against his disease and try to survive! He had two surgeries done and is still in the hospital. He is not able to move his right leg and he's so weak! Can you imagine if you were in his situation? One day, you are able to smile and the next day you can't even open your eyes!

I am trying to stay strong for him, myself, my mom, and my family. I try to take care of everything. But, I have limitations. I don't have enough money to pay for his hospital bills. I'm seeking help from the community.
