PLEASE HELP ME SAVE SWEET LOVING OSCAR FROM LEUKEMIA!!
HE NEEDS 9 MORE WEEKS OF CHEMO AND SO FAR IT IS WORKING BUT IS SO EXPENSIVE!! HE DESERVES THIS CHANCE!! HE IS A HUGE MENTOR AND MASCOT FOR MY RESCUE.

My name is Kim May and I have a rescue named Gracies' HEART of [email redacted]ciesheartofgold.petfinder.com . We are located in Indiana and I have devoted the past 10 years to saving as many lives as possible.

The first dog that I helped save out of the local shelter was a pregnant Golden Retriever and I named her Gracie after my niece Gracie. They both had hearts of gold, so that is how the name of my rescue was determined.

So this was my official start to what became a growing rescue and passion to save lives.

I have spent countless tens of thousands of dollars of my own money helping pay for sick rescued animals, as well as feeding the best food possible and paying for all vet care like spay/neuter, vaccines, heartworm tests, treatments, and preventative meds, etc.

So I was devastated when my own sweet Oscar was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia 3 weeks ago. He was one of Gracie's pups from that first litter and has been with me the whole way through my journey and mission to save as many lives as possible.

He has also kissed away countless tears of not only my own, but of friends and family members, in addition to the many kisses to families who he met with me when we did home visits together to adopt one of his proteges.

He has been the "mascot", the mentor, the big brother to hundreds of dogs (and cats), and the amazing companion and doggy soul mate to me. Before he got sick, he gave me literal hugs every day I walked through the door after work. He also would put his front leg over me while we laid down together as if to cuddle up and protect me.

Just the other day I was lying down beside him crying because I didn't want to lose him and he put his front leg over me and kissed my tears. Even in his illness, he still tries to heal your sorrows and shows you his unconditional love.

He has truly been one of the best gifts God has given to me. He was my constant rock and never left my side after tragically losing my 21 year old amazing nephew in November 2011.

To now be faced with mounting vet bills that I am struggling to pay, because I still have 25-35 dogs that still need fed, vet care, medications, etc in addition to him, is just so devastating.

I have never asked for help for me or for my rescue. At this point, I am researching and trying to find ways to raise funds for his treatment. I just cannot bear the thought of having no choice but to discontinue treatment due to being too much money for me to continue.

I also am so sad to say that one of his siblings, Corkie Belle, who was adopted when she was a puppy, was diagnosed with this same thing and sadly their family had to make the decision to let her go on 2/16/13 when she became so weak and anemic and chemo treatment did not help.

So far his chemo has worked well, with the exception of the difficulty getting him to have an appetite and the diarrhea that he has from his disease and most likely meds. But he still has 9 more weeks of chemo left with this treatment and am praying for an answer to be able to get this done.

While it is hard to ask for help with most things in life, if asking for help can help save his life, I am asking for help. Please help me save him!!

If you are not able to able to help financially, please help with prayers!! Prayers are desperately needed and help so much!!! :)

God Bless and thank you so much!
