Dr. Christine's Ethiopia Medical Mission

I became a Doctor to make a difference and help those that are less fortunate
Every year I heard wonderful life changing stories from my friends and colleagues who have given their time and skills overseas, providing the most basic medical care that we take for granted. They've asked me to join this years medical mission as one of the groups physicians.

This is so important to me, I'm closing my practice for two weeks to be a part of the medical team.
When I saw the video from last years trip, my heart just broke. Some of these people are in absolute dire medical need. As a physician, it was clear to me that I had to go. So this year, my birthday gift to myself, is to close my practice for two weeks and take care of those in need.

The volunteer group that I'm going with is entirely self funded and we're still short on medical supplies.
As a group, we've arranged the entire trip out of pocket: Airfare, accommodations, transportation and medical supplies. We've made 1000 hygiene bags for men and women, and 500 nutritional/toy kits for children. What we really need right now is some additional funding for basic medical supplies: antibiotics, diabetes medication, heart medication, aspirin, vitamins and basic gauze/saline/suture materials/gloves/antiseptics, etc.

No donation is too small, $5.00 can change 15 lives.
We've got quite an ambitious agenda and every last dollar counts more than you could possibly imagine. $5.00 can purchase 250 antibiotics; that's enough to treat almost 15 people for Trachoma (a bacterial eye infection that if untreated leads to blindness). In Ethiopia, blindness leads to loss of livelihood; and almost guaranteed homelessness. Entire families are living in the streets, with children begging for food because their parents can't see. Imagine the impact you can make with a $25. donation.

The impact goes beyond the initial trip.
We are working with a Dr. at the local village clinic to assess the most critical cases. Those that require life saving surgeries will be sponsored by our groups fundraising efforts, as well as the education initiative outreach program.
