Dan The Man “swinging and singing”

My name is Danny Warren I am a 60 year male that lives in Chandler Arizona. I have been living here for 34 years. Still in many ways call Illinois my home. I’ve been working for Walmart in Chandler on Gilbert and Germann for 11 years, 8 years on the overnight maintenance team. Recently I have been taken off work due to being diagnosed with bladder cancer. I found out two days prior to Thanksgiving 2020 that I had a large tumor in my bladder, and went to surgery the following Friday. I found out the following Tuesday that it is cancerous and I would be going through more testing before giving a course of action. Within those follow up scans and tests it has revealed that it is an agressive cancer and has metastasized throughout my body. Multiple organs and bones throughout my body have been affected and it’s entered my lymph nodes. I have been accepted into the MD Anderson cancer center in Gilbert Arizona. I had my first consultation at the cancer center on December 16, 2020 to discuss the Impact of the cancer and discuss my future treatment plans. Chemo therapy is in my near future, I have four more appointments scheduled at the cancer center for more testing on December 28,29,30,31. At this time I know I will not being going back to work as I am now in a battle to save myself time. I have been told this is a non curable cancer. The oncologist also let me know in his field even he is surprised at times. His prognosis for me isn’t a discussion on a time table and has let me know it’s more about extending my life for months not necessarily years at this point. The first 4-6 rounds of chemo will focus on shrinking the tumor to relieve some pain and maybe restore some of my bodily functions that are compromised at this time. I intend on fighting this with everything I have but this fight for me is in Arizona and nowhere else. I realize the medical bills will be insurmountable but more importantly at this time is to maintain my monthly living expenses and keep them a float. Rent , car payment, electric, insurance, food and all of my monthly necessities is the near present priority. Unfortunately my financial situation has been a challenge for the last decade, since I was diagnosed with a multitude of auto immune diseases. During the Covid year of 2020 I like most everyone else tried to protect myself through the pandemic. Because of my fear of Covid with a weakened immune system and working for Walmart, I worked less hours this year trying protect myself. Unfortunately those reduced hours will reduce my monthly disability income. At this point I am reaching out in every direction I know. I have had some incredible friends and family step forward and give me all of the emotional, moral and spiritual support that a person could ask for. I am humbled by the out pouring of love and prayers that have came my way over the past month. The support towards me and prayers from some of my friends and family that I havent seen or been in contact with in 40+ years has amazed me. So at this point I am asking for any help that anyone can give me. I know it has been a tight year for all of us, at this time any help given I will consider a blessing. I will be using this money to help with my bills and keep my head above water. For those who have known me most of my life, have always known that I am a fighter and have never given up and have overcame amazing things before. Most of you all know that I have a passion for music. Combining those two things I have adopted the spirt of “swinging and singing”. Thank-you for anyone who takes the time to read my story and have a blessed day.
