Help A Low Income College Student
I have always been a diligent student spending majority of my high school experience taking accredited college courses and making the honor roll list. I had the amazing opportunity of being my academy's Co-Secretary and a speaker at my Dental Assistant graduation. My teachers would use the word "overachiever", to describe me and my passion for what I do especially in school. I strive to always do my best no matter how hard it is, I rather fail knowing I gave it my all. As a former foster youth, I decided in my sophomore year that I wanted to go to school to become a Social Worker and change the scope of the profession helping thousands of children. I was finally given that opportunity.
On December 12, 2019, I was accepted to my dream school, Mount Saint Mary's University. This was a moment that I treasured since it was the start of my college experience and my debut in the real world and adulthood. I was overwhelmed with joy as I chose my major, child development in hopes of becoming a Social Worker. That joy I once consumed took a turn when the pandemic arose forcing my school like many others to complete the 2019-2020 semester online. Since my school is a Private University the cost became so overbearing that I had no other choice but to drop out just after finishing my first semester. Since I complete this semester I am required to pay $16k back in student loans to obtain my transcripts to transfer to a Comunity College. There's no way I can pay back such a huge amount stemming from the fact that I am only 18 years old and work a minimum wage job.
My financial debt is depriving me of showing the world who I truly am and all I hold.
With that being said anything given here is greatly appreciated. Even a quick share is appreciated. I want to thank everyone for taking the time out to hear my story.
