On September 26th, 2021 Melisa and Dana Rancourt attended a local arena to support and protect their 5 year old son Maverik, while he went to his first hockey practice of the season. Mel and Dana have attended this same arena hundreds of times, but this time wasn't like any of the other times they went there. This time they were asked to disclose their medical information, which was declined. A short time later Police arrived, and they were both arrested. Mel was accused of "resisting arrest" and charged criminally. It's hard to imagine that such extreme measures could result from attending a children's hockey practice, but it did.

 

Mel was then slandered in the media, which made its way throughout the province, simply because of her profession. This is not the Canada that we have protected and defended for over 20 years, and certainly not the Canada we all want to live in.

 

As a result of this incident, Mel and Dana now have significant legal fees and other financial burdens and need your help!
